Preservation of the heritage of Hardin County mattered to the early settlers and should matter just as much to us. The pioneers who placed their history of Hardin County in our hands left us a responsibility to maintain and preserve their story.
In 2016, Hardin County Historical Museums Inc. created an endowment fund – the Hardin County History Fund – through the Hardin County Community Foundation to preserve the heritage of Hardin County for future generations. The Museum is currently funded by membership dues, donations, fundraising activities and grants. Our doors would not stay open without the generous contributions of our members and the greater Hardin County community, including many businesses and organizations. But we must also look to the future and it was for this reason that the Hardin County History Fund was created.
How does the fund work? Donations are sent to the Museum specifically earmarked for the Hardin County History Fund. The money is deposited with the Hardin Community Foundation, where it is invested. As the fund grows, the Museum will, annually, choose whether to reinvest the interest to grow the fund or draw the interest to meet current expenses. The principal of the fund will never touched. Donations are tax deductible.
We believe the Museum not only highlights the remarkable accomplishments of our ancestors but will inspire current and future generations to great achievements of their own. Our ability to do this can be achieved through your generous donation to the Hardin County History Fund. To join us in this cause, please send the enclosed form and your check payable to Hardin County Historical Museums, Inc., 223 North Main Street, Kenton OH 43326 with the notation “Hardin County History Fund.”
